Summer Youth Crew

Youth Crew Members complete demanding and rewarding trail, restoration, and fence projects in partnership with public land management agencies. For 2016, UCC will run a youth crew out of Salt Lake City from June through mid-August. We will be hiring 8 youth to work half days Monday-Friday. The youth crew is led by a Crew Leader and Assistant Crew Leader. We are currently hiring for the assistant crew leader position.

MUST BE AT LEAST 21 AND HAVE:

  • Conservation field work or equivalent experience
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Spanish language experience, preferred
  • Positive attitude, maturity, and flexibility
  • Experience working with youth
  • Camping experience and love of the outdoors
  • Willingness to work long hours outdoors in all weather
  • Eligible to enroll in AmeriCorps
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Proof of a valid driver's license

2016 Assistant Youth Crew Leader

Term Dates: May 23 - August 19, 2016

The Assistant Crew Leader is an AmeriCorps position who assists the crew leader in carrying out crew leadership responsibilities.  

MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND HAVE:

  • Willingness to work hard in an outdoor setting
  • Maturity, great attitude, and flexibility
  • Spanish language proficiency, desired but not required
  • ability to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly and use hand tools
  • ability to hike up to 10 miles/day with heavy pack/tools
  • Eligible to enroll in AmeriCorps
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

2016 Youth Crew Member

Position located in Salt Lake City, Utah

Position Dates: June 13 - August 19, 2016

Youth Crew Members complete conservation project work, such as invasive weed removal, tree planting, fence building, and trail maintenance.  Plus, each week the crew will spend a few hours doing educational activities. This is a 40 hour/week, Mon-Fri hourly wage position.
